How Our OCD Support Group Works

Led by an OCD specialist and supported by peer facilitators, this group welcomes individuals of all ages. Each meeting begins with a brief check-in, providing members the opportunity to share updates since the previous session.

Meetings also include:

  • Psychoeducation Discussions: Led by the specialist, these focus on topics related to OCD, such as managing intrusive thoughts, current treatment approaches, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) strategies, and reducing avoidance behaviors.
  • Peer-Led Group Discussions: Facilitated by members who have personal experience with OCD, these discussions encourage sharing topics, asking questions, and exchanging ideas in a supportive and understanding environment.

Confidentiality Commitment

To create a safe and supportive environment, all members are expected to uphold the confidentiality of what is shared during group meetings. By participating, members agree to respect the privacy of others and refrain from disclosing any personal information or discussions outside the group.

Participation and Goal Setting

Every member’s input is valued, and active participation is encouraged. Toward the end of each meeting, members may work on setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals. These goals can focus on any area of personal growth and don’t have to be directly related to OCD.

How To Join The Woodlands OCD Support Group

Our support group operates on an open enrollment basis, meaning new members are welcome to join at any time throughout the year. You can attend as many or as few meetings as you wish.

Before joining, a brief phone screening is required to ensure confidentiality and confirm that participants have a diagnosis of OCD.
